There’s a saying that when you love what you do, it’s not work. So how do we make that happen? The way we make that happen is to simply have fun in business. There are always two types of days that we have or had in business. We’ve had those days that we were in the zone, nothing can go wrong. You are absolutely on your A game. If you’re in sales, no one can say no to you. You were just in the flow state. At the end of the day, you were such on your A game, you’d go home and share, “Honey, you should have seen me today, I was on it!” Everything on days like that would just seem to go right.
Then there are other days that time just seems to crawl by. Nothing seems to go right. Around every corner there’s another derailment to take you off your path of the day. At the end of the day, you’re exhausted. You’re burnt out. You go home and express, “Honey we don’t even need to talk today, it’s been one of those days.”
What’s the difference between those two days? It’s one thing. You were either having fun or you were not, that’s it. Look back at all the experiences you’ve had when you had your great days and your bad days, the simple fact is you were either in the zone and having fun, or you were not.
Speaking of which, I have a simple little phrase that I
really like. “When you’re having fun, you’re in the zone and when in the zone,
you’re cashing checks.” Now we’re all in business to cash checks, take credit
cards and cash too. Now, of course, that’s a by-product of delivering your
goods and services with excellence to your customers. It’s always about getting
them what they want so you can get what you want.
However, the bottom line is just that, we need to be adding money to our bottom
line. We need to be having fun, to be in the zone to cash checks as that’s what
puts money in the bank. So, if you want to be successful, if you want to love
what you do, and if you want to continually increase your bottom line, just
remember one thing, just have fun!

checks.” Realize that’s the path to business freedom and putting money in the
bank and loving what you do.
