Have you declared your Independence?2 min read

July 4th is more than just a day to enjoy a BBQ and shoot off fireworks. It’s our country’s birthday and commemorates the birth of a new nation; the day we declared independence from England. The preamble of the Declaration of Independence states, “We the people, in order to form a more perfect union…”

It was a very brave, bold and risky move for our founding fathers to form a new COUNTRY. Every man who signed their name on the Declaration of Independence actually risked their lives in potentially hanging from the gallows under the Britain rule.

The question is, what are you willing to risk for the future of your own company? Are you as decisive as our founding fathers in your actions to move forward? What is actually holding you back from forming something new and bold?

Do you need to declare independence from:

A struggling business

When was the last time you took a hard look at your business to find inefficiencies in your business? Better yet, have an outsider like a business coach, go through an analysis with you. Sometimes having a third party can bring a fresh perspective and help you see the forest through the trees. Together you two can create an action plan to move forward in success.

Get clear

Do you find challenges in the empowerment of your team or employees? It may be just that you need to get clear on the organizations Vision, Mission and Purpose to enroll and empower them in something bigger than just coming to work each day.  Your coach can help you develop your Big Picture so that your team is loyal, motivated, effective and empowered.

Shake off those poor habits

“First we make our habits then our habits make us.” No one is immune from  habits that don’t necessarily serve them or the team. It’s not what we know or don’t know that hurts us. It’s what we don’t know that we don’t know. Get clarity on what needs to change, take the bad habit and replace it a good one. Develop those good new habits through daily actions. Focus on becoming the person you want to be, rather than letting old habits dictate who you are.

So, as you celebrate our countries Birthday take sometime this week to write your own “Declaration of Independence.” If a dozen men living in a foreign land risking their lives can create a country as great as the United States, what can you accomplish?
