Is your Customer Service A #1?2 min read

Are you delivering the best possible customer service? If not, that can be a problem – however don’t worry too much, because we’re going to help you solve it. Handling even the toughest customers can quickly become much easier once you understand the correct way to deliver service to them.

Step One: Anticipate Their Needs

Customers possess a wide variety of needs and desires, and if you want to deliver the best customer service you possibly can, try starting with anticipating their needs and reducing the amount of time it takes to solve the most common problems. Very few things will impact a customer more than seeing an employee or even the business owner go the extra mile to solve a problem. In most cases, how you react to a problem will end up being more important than the problem itself.

Step Two: Truly Connect with your Customer

The very nature of any customer service situation means that you’ll find yourself dealing with real people – and how you interact with them will have a huge impact on the overall level of service you’re able to deliver.  True connection is the secret to success in any engagement or relationship. Engage and connect with your customers, ask them questions about what they want. Remember the 80/20 rule; listen 80% of the time, and talk only 20%.

Step Three: Communicate Effectively

It’s always about positioning and communication. As much as we’d like to solve every problem right away, the simple truth of the matter is that some issues do take time to resolve. Communicate with your customers up front about the processes you take to serve them. Proper Communication is the life blood of any relationship or business, done right and everything will run smooth. Without it you are destined to fail.

Step Four: Over Promise and Over Deliver

If you really want to stand out – Over Promise and Over Deliver! Yes, a bit different from Under Promise and Over Deliver! Why should we under promise only to look good later. Make a commitment to be the best – step up – let them know that you will be going out of your way to give them the Best, then deliver it! However make sure that your systems are in place to deliver on your promise 100% of the time. Delivering the best customer service is an ongoing challenge, however it should be a challenge that you and your team love to take on. Remember, customer service is about the customer – always make it about them and you’ll do just fine.
