“It’s Just Business.”2 min read

I’m sure pretty much everyone out there has one time or another cooked themselves a box of rice. My question is, what’s the first thing we do when we cook a box of rice? We grab the box and read the directions on the side of the box. Instructions as follows; get a two and a half quart saucepan, pour in two cups of water, add a tablespoon of margarine or butter, a teaspoon of salt, bring it to a boil, pour in your rice, cover, simmer, 20 minutes, perfect rice every time.

However, when we start a business, do we have the directions on the side of the box, exactly what steps to take to be successful in business? No. The one place we spend the most time, energy, effort, and money, we’re winging it. No plan. Box of rice, perfect every time. Business, no directions or recipes.

Over the next several weeks. I’m going to be sharing with you how to do business right. I’m going to reveal the recipe to build your business like you would be cooking a box of rice.

To get started we’re going to start right at the bottom, and that is the foundation of the business.
I want you to think of a foundation as a concrete slab, that foundation that starts a building or a home. If the foundation is shaky and it has cracks, the building or home is going to be built on shaky ground. And if you don’t have a solid foundation in business, your business is going to be on shaky ground. That is exactly why so many businesses can’t get past one, three, five, or ten years of existence. That’s why so many businesses fail, simply because they have a shaky foundation and they’re not doing business right.

So if you’re interested, I will share with you over the next several weeks of how to do business right. How to create the recipe, fix the cracks, so you can create a business that works for you.

In final and in the immortal words of Michael Corleone from the original Godfather, “It’s just business.” If any of you want to talk just business over the next few weeks, join me, Coach Michael on your Monday Morning.
