The Power of Why1 min read

The Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Championship Parade took place yesterday. A record numbers of fans showed up and engulfed the city to celebrate their team’s victory. All is right in Cleveland.

However, how did this all happen after so many years of championship drought?

It all started with a very powerful Why. LeBron James, like him or not was very clear on his why. He was very clear on his dream of bringing a championship back to his city.

James, was born in Akron, Ohio on December 30, 1984. This city watched him grow up through high school onto being drafted by the NBA.   This city always felt they had something special in this young man. James, in return had always felt that this city had his back. This city cheered when in the 2003 NBA draft James was selected in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers.  The city then jeered James when he announced in 2010 that he was leaving Cleveland to take his talents to Miami. It is Miami where James learned what it took to win a championship, actually two championships. And after four years in Miami it is then that James got clear on bringing a championship to Cleveland.

Along the way, people loved him, hated him, doubted him, ridiculed him.  However, all during this time James just kept clear in his mind of raising the prize in the city that raised him. He did whatever it took to lead his team and city in this direction. He never listened to the naysayers, he just put his head down and worked.

It’s never about what you do, it’s always about why you do it. So, go out there get clear on your why and claim your prize!
