Your Blank Canvas Future! 4 min read

The Vincent van Gogh’s, Pablo Picasso’s, Leonardo da Vinci’s, and Michelangelo’s, all had one thing in common in addition to being world-renowned painters and artists. Prior to displaying those beautiful historic paintings, they all started with a blank canvas, they all envisioned the end result in their mind and on the canvas before they ever picked up the brush.

In business and in life, each and every one of us possesses the same capabilities of achieving success. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, they all started with a blank canvas. They tapped into their passion and genius, they got really clear on what they wanted to create, how they wanted to contribute, what products and services they wanted to bring to the market. They created crystal clarity on exactly what the end result was, they brainstormed, masterminded, created a plan, disregarded the doubters, got out the brush, and started painting.

I’m here to share with you, 2020 is just about over, 2021 is right around the corner. I’m encouraging and challenging you to take a deep look at your business and life, and see it as a blank canvas. Begin to get really clear on what you want it to look like in a perfect world, imagine it, envisioned it, create a plan, write it down, develop the strategies, create the action steps, apply it, test your actions, measure your results, and let the future unfold.

Before you can take your finished painting, put up on the wall, stand back, and admire it. I encourage you to follow the accompanying process to create clarity for your life and business.

Step I – Look Back:

Start with Gratitude: Take inventory of all the fine things you already possess in your life. Your family, your spouse, your partner, your health, your possessions, your experiences, etc. You’ll realize that what you have in your life, some can only dream of.

Create a reverse bucket list: Create a list of all the cool things and adventures you have already checked off and experienced in your life. Your personal reverse bucket list could be someone else’s actual bucket list.

Outcome: This combination will get you centered on the fun, full, satisfying life you have lived. This will also get the juices flowing for the outlook of your future.

Step II – Look Forward:

Start with the end in mind: Create your long-term outlook, whatever that may be, whatever it looks like, it’s important to create extreme clarity. I’ve listed several areas to create clarity on.

Health / Exercise

Wealth / Finances

Property / Home

Family / Partner

Fun / Leisure

Business / Vision

Possessions

Travel

Community Contribution

Step III: Chunk it down: Complete the exercises in the 20 – 10, 5, 3, and 1-year time frame.

Step IV: Learning & Development: Write a short paragraph of how and where you will step up to accomplish your goals. What personal and professional development strategies are you going to take on to grow into the person to achieve your list? “We don’t achieve our goals we grow into them.”

You now have your blueprint. Time to mastermind, create your plan of action, get out your brush and paint the picture of your successful future.
