A Coach will tell it like it is1 min read

Hiring a business coach will help you to see the forest for the trees. When you’re focusing on the minute details, he will help you focus on the bigger picture. But what he won’t do is candy coat it. A Coach will tell it like it is.

Clarity is the key

The old saying, “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” is great advice to not fidget with something that is already working. But what if you can’t see what isn’t working?  You can’t fix that either. If no one is willing to tell you what you need to hear how can you possibly learn and grow. A coach will give it to you straight and show you what you may not already see, or what you may have been avoiding.

Accountability

At times when things aren’t going well, it’s easy to jump the gun and try to find blame elsewhere. A coach will make you take a step back, examine yourself first, and take accountability. Even if something happened at the hands of your team, what could you have done better to prevent it? Perhaps the communication was unclear, the training wasn’t sufficient or there weren’t the proper systems in place. As a leader, you are ultimately responsible for creating the issue, and correcting it. You may be both the problem and the solution at the same time. But until you take the emotion out of the equation, you can’t see that you are accountable.

As a coach it is most important to tell it like it is – it may be uncomfortable at times however getting comfortable in being uncomfortable is where all the true growth lies.
