C.A.R.E.

There’s a great phrase out there, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” As a coach, I need to practice this, day in and day out, to care for my clients, to be who I need to be so I can help them be who they need to be to get the results they’re looking for.

Now, fortunately, I have an army behind me representing Action Coach, 31 years in the business, largest coaching firm in the world, 86 countries, and we have acronyms for the word care of how an effective coach needs to be to get results for their clients.

C.A.R.E.

C is for Community. We build community by gathering like-minded business owners to mastermind together, brainstorm, share their wins, share their losses, and take from each other lessons from which they can get better. A lot of us have been in business for a long time and some a short time. Success leaves clues. Masterminding and brainstorming with other like-minded individuals are essential to realizing you’re not all alone on an island. We find the right community to get our clients in so they can leverage those people to get better themselves.

A is for Accountability. Let’s face it. I’m a coach. My job is to hold my clients accountable, to do the things they say they’re going to do, to guide them with the right systems, solutions, and strategies to make sure they apply them. I’ve spoken to business owners early on in my career. They say, “What do I need to hire you for? I know what I need to do.” I reply, “Correct, and how’s that working for you?” Usually, the answer is kind of like, “Yeah, well…” If we leave it to our own devices, we may or may not take the proper action to get the results that we’re looking for. We may not go outside our comfort zone, but if you have a good accountability partner, like a coach guiding you along the way, he or she is going to make sure you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing because his or her goal is your success.

R is for Results. It’s all about attitude, action, results. Get your head right, do the right stuff, and you’ll get results. It’s impossible not to achieve greatness when you’re consistently working on yourself, your team, your organization, your culture, and your business. You’re consistently growing and going outside your comfort zone and letting someone be your guide to hold you accountable and guide you through that process. And as everything gets better, it’s going to drip to the productivity in your team and your business’s bottom line.

Lastly and most importantly, E is for what a lot of people miss and that is Education. To earn more, you need to learn more. I like many have read a lot of books. I’m consistently working on sharpening my axe to get better so I can be a better coach for myself, my team, and my clients. I understand that if I need to be a better leader, I need to educate myself on how to be a better leader. If I need to understand systems and structure in a business, I need to educate myself on how to apply systems and structure in my business. If I need to know how to attract better people to represent my brand, I need to educate myself on how to do that. CARE, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

I encourage you to apply these principles. Create a community of like-minded people who want to excel and will hold each other accountable for taking you out of your comfort zone. Accountability. Find the right mentor or coach to hold you accountable to make sure you do the task that gets you to greatness. Results. Be focused on the results, but make sure you’re doing the work to get there. Remember, attitude first, action second, and results are the outcome of those two. And most importantly, Education. Make sure you’re consistently educating yourself on getting better every day. You put that all together, I guarantee things will work out in your favor.
