Coaching and Red Wine4 min read

What’s the difference between hiring a great coach, and producing a bottle of wine? I know you’re all thinking, this guy’s a little crazy. However, let me share with you that there’s actually no difference. I spoke a few weeks ago about study, learn, master, teach. This scenario or theory comes from that process.  

How do you make red wine? You take thousands of grapes and crush those grapes down to extract the juice, only the perfect portion of the juice to create the wine. The skins, the seeds, are all thrown away, to either biodegrade back into the earth or for the birds to come in and fill their bellies. So, what we’re getting from that entire process, is just to extract the juice to create the wine. The wine that we can sit back and sip during a nice dinner at our home.

What is coaching? I talked about study, learn, master, teach. As a coach, we’ve gone through that process. That process of study, learn, master, is the process of squeezing the grapes to extract the fine wine. When you start a business, you’re going to go through all these trials and errors, because there is no recipe, you’re just learning as you go. With all these bumps, it takes time to figure it all out. When you hire a great coach, the coach has gone through the process of extracting the wine, and juice from the grapes, and they’ve already got rid of almost all that noise. They’ve gone through the studying. They’ve gone through the learning. They’ve gone through the mastering. They’ve gone through trials and errors. They had their own bumps and bruises. They have their own coaches that go through this process with them. They’re in a constant state of learning mastery.

So, when you hire a great coach, that’s been through all that, all you’re getting is the wine. You’re leaving the majority of the process of all the learning and studying on your own and just extracting the wine from the grapes. You’re just getting the filtered best of the best. It’s like taking red bull and putting in your business, because that leverage of all that studying, learning, and mastering from the coach of what they’ve done in the process, becoming their best to help you, can speed up the process for you, because you don’t have to go through the same journey as they did. They went through it for you. They know exactly where to go with you, and exactly what strategies to share to systematize your business. They know how to assist with aligning your team to the culture of the organization. They’re your guide in the entire process. 

Now don’t confuse the fact that you won’t be going through the same process as you will just to a different degree. The big difference here is that the coach will be guiding you exactly where to go, what to do, how to think, and what shifts to make. You’ll be doing a lot of learning and mastering on your own. You’ll just be skipping over the extraction of the seeds and grapes very quickly in the process of creating the fine wine or in your case a synergistic business that works for you. 

Do you want your business to go to the next level, do you want to be drinking the fine wine, while skipping the process of extracting the juice of the grapes from the seeds and skins? Hire a coach, a good coach, a great coach, that has gone through the studying, the learning, and the mastering, so they can teach you. This way you can get that fine glass of red wine that you could sip at your dinner table, and get the results in your business a heck of a lot quicker than you would on your own.
