Delivery Mastery for the Holidays3 min read

In the essence of the holidays, a lot of us are ordering many different things on-line and sending them to a lot of different places. With this in mind, to build a successful organization, there’s always a first step. And that first step in any organization of being successful is called mastery. With mastery, I would like you to think of it as the foundation of your business. If that foundation isn’t solid, your organization and business is growing on shaky ground.

Now there are four are components of mastery? There’s money mastery, knowing your numbers inside and out, time mastery, you and your team being very effective and efficient with their time. Destination mastery, actually knowing exactly where you’re going with your organization, where you want to end up. And the last is delivery mastery. Like I mentioned, because we’re in the midst of the holidays, we’re ordering lots of goods and services and sending them here, there, and everywhere, delivery mastery is the key.

Now, I want you to think of delivery mastery as something very, very simple. It’s just doing what you say, (backing your word), when you say, the way you say you’re going to do it. This way, your clients know exactly what to expect. When they get exactly what they expect, they’ll keep on coming back. Consistency, it’s that simple.

The best example I could think of who’ve mastered the delivery process is Amazon Prime. How easy is it? Pick up your phone, hit a button, couple of clicks, bang, you confirm an order. Next day, it’s on your doorstep. There’s nothing better than that. That’s delivery mastery at its finest.

They’ll even send you a picture of it at your front door and follow up to see if you’re happy, that’s mastering the delivery process. However, you like them most because they’re consistent. You know with Amazon Prime, whatever you order, it’s going to be on your doorstep the next day. That’s the way it works.

As you’re going through this holiday season, as you’re looking back on how you showed up as an organization, ask yourself, where is your delivery process on a scale one to ten. If it’s anything less than an eight, nine, or ten, you have some work to do. If you can’t guarantee your clients are going to get exactly what they expect, you need to work on mastering your delivery process.

That’s what going to next level is all about, looking in the mirror, judging ourselves, asking ourselves tough questions of how we’re showing up. If we’re not where we want to be, begin to tweak things to get a little bit better. Remember, to be extraordinary, you don’t have to do extraordinary things. You only have to do the little things consistently, and that compounded will make you extraordinary.

Go out there, have an extraordinary holiday, deliver your goods and service with pride. Do it well and get your customers coming back for more and more.
