Ideal Client Checklist

To build a business that works for you, you’re going to want to work with customers and clients that you enjoy doing business with. With the law of intentionality, we have to be very clear on exactly who an ideal customer or client is.

Several years back as a coach, I had some great clients as I do now, however, what I did was I took all the characteristics of those clients and I wrote them out. With that, I started creating my ideal client checklist. It’s evolved over the years, as I have evolved over the years. Today, I’m going to share you with my ideal client checklist. Maybe this will help you get clear on what you like to have in an ideal raving fan client for you and your organization. As I’m going through this list, if you check off the boxes, perhaps you should be calling me and we should be working together.

Here is my list; You’re passionate and service-oriented. You’re willing to take risks. You’re a big thinker who doesn’t understand the word can’t. You will trust me that I’ll have your back. You will trust me that I will share and have you do all that is only in your best interest. You’ll be honest, direct, and not afraid to challenge me as your coach. You’ll always hold yourself up to the utmost of integrity. You want to be the best in your field. You thrive and strive to be a great leader. You are an abundant thinker. You want to grow both personally and professionally. You possess high standards and expect the same from your team. You’re always willing to accept full ownership and responsibility. You possess an entrepreneurial mindset. You’re willing to take your guard down, be open, and be willing to learn and grow. You understand the value of investing in yourself and investing in your team. You’re committed to being a lifelong learner. You strive to remain calm when challenged or confronted. You will focus on what’s most important. You’re willing to be fearless and willing to go outside your comfort zone. You commit to work on mastering yourself. You commit to work on mastering your business. And you will always be striving to be better and open to any suggestions on how to get there.

You see, that’s my ideal client checklist. There is nothing more gratifying when I’m sitting down with somebody and going through the process, and I ask them, “I’m pretty clear that you’re going to be able to check off all the boxes of my ideal client checklist. Can we see if you do?” When they say yes, and I just go through the exercise and read the statements, and they say, “Yes.” And we check off all the boxes, I simply say, “I guess it’s no coincidence why we’re talking.” And they become a client. And with that, they do the work. They grow. They achieve. They create a team that works the business for them. They make more money. They get more time and more freedom; they create the business and life of their dreams. And because of that, it makes my job easy, because I’ve been their guide for them to get more. They win. I win. They create a business that works for them. I create a business that works for me. However, you can’t do it unless you’re clear on who your ideal customer or client is.

So, I encourage you to go through the same exercise that I went through several years back. And who knows you just may create that ideal team and customer that helps create a business that works for you.
