Is your Team United?2 min read

When I think of a team I think of the Navy Seals. They are the ultimate example of what teams are. They are united. They hold themselves and their teammates to a very high level of accountability. They never make it about themselves as they always make it about the man next to them and the mission. They are always clear on their outcome and they will execute that mission as quickly and efficiently as possible.

So, when you think of your team, staff or employees, what image and thoughts do you have of them? Are you proud of every one of them as both individuals and as a unit?

Team stands for Together Everyone Achieves More!

If you are an owner of a company, your one job is to take care of the team. If your team is well trained, educated, motivated, paid on time, held accountable and recognized for their hard work, they will break down walls for you. Take care of your team and they will take care of your customers, your customers will be happy and come back again and again and even refer their friends. This in turn will grow your business of which is the reason that you started it in the first place.

So, when things aren’t going exactly like you wish, step up as a leader, make it about your team and things will soon improve.

I leave you with a few of my favorite lines from the Navy Seals Creed to get you thinking of what it takes to build the dream team you want.

  • The lives of my teammates and the success of the mission depend on me.
  • If knocked down, I will get back up, every time.
  • Focus on RESULTS. Embrace the results are what we’re all really after. Commit to delivering like you wish others would do for you.
  • MAKE LESSONS OF FAILURES. Minimize the tendency to make a mistake anything more than a lesson on how not to do something. Learn from your experiences and accept them as tuition for future success.
  • CONTINUE ON. Smarter.
  • REINFORCE. Support each other (and ourselves) by continually reminding and encouraging one another to deliver on these points
  • In the worst of conditions, the legacy of my teammates steadies my resolve and silently guides my every deed.
  • By wearing the Trident I accept the responsibility of my chosen profession and way of life. It is a privilege that I must earn every day.

What if we all had a Trident for our work, for our team, something that says we truly accept the responsibility for our chosen profession, and we did it?

You up for it?
