I was listening to a podcast, and this gentleman posed a question that really engaged my thinking. The question was; what’s the price we pay for certainty? What an interesting question as it really made me think. What’s the price we actually pay for wanting to have certainty? Sometimes we want things to be a certain way, excellent, perfect, when everything is just right then I will, and then I will, never happens.
What’s the price we pay for certainty, to wanting to know exactly how it’s going to pan out, exactly what the results are going to be. Knowing, hopefully, there won’t be any adversity or any risks, and it’ll be a smooth ride. And when we know it’s going to be that way and we’re convinced then, and only then will we take the action to go get what we want?
What’s the price we pay for certainty? There isn’t anything certain in this world, in life, in business. We simply have to take action. Think of everything we have today, the things we take for granted, the technology, all the things that make our life easier. There were risks involved in creating these vehicles for us. What would have happened if every founding father, every person that went before us over the last 200+ years, that if they weren’t certain about the outcome, they decided just not to take action. Where would we be today?
I’m talking to all business owners, sole practitioners, leaders, especially you entrepreneurs because we have to take risks day in and day out. Don’t pay the price for certainty, take action, go with your instinct. Yes, do the planning, a good plan today is better than a great plan tomorrow. Create a plan, write it down, get clear, and take action.
Get somebody to hold you accountable to take that action, but don’t pay the price for certainty. Sometimes we want everything to be just right. And sometimes that time never comes. I’m here today to just tell you, get clear on what you want, write a plan, start today, take action. Because I’m certain of one thing. If you don’t take the action, you’ll never get to what you want in this world or in your life. I ask you today, if you are one of those that wants certainty for you to move forward, it’s time to ante up. It’s time to do a gut check and it’s time to just take action.
