In the abc’s of running a successful business F is for Fun. Think about it, we own a business by our choice. We are running a business to accomplish our goals and dreams. We are running businesses to deliver our goods and services, to add value to our customers business and lives. We are developing and enrolling our teams to be the best in the industry so we can stand out as the leaders in our respective fields. We have a lot on our plate as business owners, so shouldn’t this all be done in Fun?
I am sure that we all have had those days that everything just seemed to be clicking. You opened that dream client, you signed that huge account you’ve been working on, and your team was absolutely pumping on all cylinders. Your cash flow in the business was just rolling in. It seemed that you couldn’t do anything wrong. You were in the Zone!
On the other hand we’ve all had those days that Murphy seemed to be lurking around every corner. You felt like you were totally off kilter and worse, it seemed like the day would never end. What was the difference? The difference was that you were not having Fun!
Serving as a Financial Advisor from 1987 to 2005, I found myself having a pretty difficult time during the period of 2000 – 2002. With the Dot Com bust, the market crashing, investor emotions at a fever pitch along with tossing 9/11 in the mix; I simply didn’t enjoy what I was doing. I was letting everything I couldn’t control affect me in a negative way. However, as I got back on track I realized I simply wasn’t having Fun and when you’re not having Fun – nothing works.
When I finally captured the clarity to alter my attitude and focus I started having fun again and when I started having fun my results followed. Simply put, when you’re having Fun in business you’re in the Zone, and when you’re in the Zone you’re Cashing Checks.
When you really get down to it, the bottom line of why we are in business is to be cashing checks. So, go out there and have some Fun building and running your business and you just might be surprised of what will come your way.
If you or anyone else you know is not having Fun in their business contact your coach to help you put that Fun back in.
