Inside the Four Walls Theory

Over the last four weeks, I talked about several different subjects. Four weeks ago, I talked about don’t be the bottleneck in your organization. Three weeks ago, we talked about don’t hit the snooze button on your life. Two weeks ago, we talked about being in and out of alignment with the principles that make you successful. And last week we talked about the power of writing down your goals

When you begin to do these things, consistently moving forward quickly to seize the day in front of you, not being the bottleneck, and applying what needs to be done. Staying in alignment with what’s right, writing down your goals, and getting clear on where you want to go, you create somewhat of a bubble, and a very positive one at that. What I mean by that is when you’re so focused on how you need to show up, the action you need to take, where to spend your time, energy, effort, and money, and the people that you need to surround yourself with to be successful. You find that no matter what is going on out there in the universe, you are so focused on what needs to happen and how you need to show up to get the results for you, your organization, your team, and your customers. That all that other noise doesn’t even matter.

I’m personally grateful for the fact that I’ve been practicing these principles for 12 years as a coach. What it’s called is The Four Walls Theory. All you can control is everything within your four walls. You cannot control what’s going on in the outside of the world. You cannot control what politicians are doing. You can’t control any of that. But you can control how you show up. How you lead your team. Your own intentionalism of where you put your time, energy, effort, and money.

Please understand, it’s never about what’s going on out there in the world. It’s what’s going on in your head, which leads you to being the leader of an organization you need to be. Everything you are doing with your organization is representing the right culture. This is articulated and applied throughout your team. You have the right systems, strategies, and structure within your organization. You’re on constant watch to see if your team is showing up right. Are they aligned with the brand, mission, and core values of your organization? These are all the things within the four walls that you can control.

Remember, when you’re not having a good day, realize that it just may be the fact that you’re either out of alignment and you are letting the things that you cannot control, control your mindset. Surround yourself with the right people. Be very intentional about where to spend your time, energy, effort, and money. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to create the right culture and structure for a synergistic organization. Align your team accordingly. Get clear on what you want. Get clear on where you’re going. Create a plan, and go get it. Because you are in control of your destiny, whether you know it or not.
