Beware of the ANTs4 min read

Joe Miller, a client of mine who runs Miller Pest Control and Sons https://millerpestcontrol.com/ , with his two sons has been in business for 50 years. The other day he said something to me, which I automatically attached to his business. He said, “Michael, you got to beware of the ants.” And of course, I thought it was a sales pitch because he’s in the pest control business. But he told me what the ants were and they represent automatic negative thoughts. Now let me clarify why this is important.

Every year I facilitate a mastermind deep dive book study on Think and Grow Rich, published in 1937 by Napoleon Hill. Chapter one, the title is “Thoughts Are Things”. Napoleon Hill would say, the only thing we can truly control is how we think. Now there’s an important phrase in the chapter, “what you think about most, mixed with emotion and backed by faith will transmute itself into the physical equivalent or reality.”

Now, what does that mean? It doesn’t specify whether they are positive or negative thoughts. So, if you’re in a funk and you’re letting those automatic negative thoughts get in, what you’re thinking about most is exactly that. Mixed with emotion, which probably is frustration, backed by faith, you see the reality of some negativity in the world and you get more of exactly what you don’t want.

The positive side is what you think about most, your goals, your dreams, you have them written down, and you’ve put the right people in your circle. You’re doing what it takes to be positive each and every day. You’re exercising your mind. You’re thinking about wealth, what you’re thinking about most is exactly those goals and dreams. Mixed with emotion, you’re excited, backed by faith, you see it working. You’ll get exactly that.

It’s important to understand, if you are not conditioning yourself positively, or you do not have a ritual or system to do whatever it takes to exercise your mind to be positive and driven while believing you can get everything you want, you are leaving room for the ants.

A quick little story. My son and I were driving back from lunch one day. It was August. It was hot, it was 2:00 in the afternoon. It was sweltering out there with the humidity, and I saw two men digging a ditch out in the sun. I told my son, Zach, “You know how you always tell me I work hard.” “Yes, Dad.” I said, “I don’t work hard. That’s hard work. I only have one job, Zach. All I have to do each and every day is do whatever I can to make sure I am on my A game. That’s it. When I’m on my A game, everything else takes care of itself.”

What I’m doing daily is conditioning myself to be positive, to attract wealth and abundance. If you do not have a ritual or a system in place to make that happen, you are leaving room for the ants, and those ants are automatic negative thoughts.

If you need help creating a ritual or system to make sure you’re on your A-game each and every day, feel free to reach out to me. Otherwise, do whatever you can on your own to flex those mind muscles to think positively, to have confidence in your goals and your dreams, and to have a belief that you can do it. Circle yourself with the right people, think right, and go get what’s yours.
